Hong Kong Ghost Comedy

Perry Chiu leads in Zuni’s new comedy production, playing multiple roles as a human, a ghost, and many more. Chiu’s haunted standup show collects ghastly rumours around the city’s 18 districts spanning possession, ghost marriages, ghost hunting, dispelling evil spirits, spirit-raising, ouija to prophecy. Embark on a guided tour of haunted houses in the 18 districts. Be prepared for mass burial mounds, haunted subdivided rooms, suicide vacation houses, and tiny urns!

Additional highlights: Lai Tat Tat Wing’s vivid comics, celebrating Halloween with Hong Kong on the Ghost Blade and outlining the ghastly customs in the 18 districts.

In the same show, the Spiritual Cats and with their magic gourd, they would scout the supernatural rumours around the 18 districts. We often refer to the soul as “魂魄” in Chinese. But are they interchangeable? If not, how are they different? And do you know how to revitalize the haunted night market in the 18 districts?

  • Ghost stories in the eighteen districts of Hong Kong

    +-

    Most stories have roots in accidental tragedies, natural and man-made disasters, or events that cannot be explained, such as unsolved cases, homicides, and disappearances. People’s fascination with “ghost stories” shows that “absurdity” is still both entertaining and alerting. Beyond horror, these tales reveal human nature. Through these stories, we can observe the changes in times and traditional values. Here are some of the most popular ghost stories in the 18 districts:

    High Street Haunted House and the Female Ghost in Tai Kwun,

    Central and Western District;

    The Fox Fairy Apparition at Haw Par Villa, Wanchai District;

    The seven sisters collectively committed suicide by throwing themselves into the sea, Eastern District

    The immovable sarcophagus at Wah Fu Estate, Southern District;

    District Mortuary, Yau Tsim Mong;

    Haunted roller coaster, Sham Shui Po District;

    The Hungry Ghost Sacrifice, Kowloon City District;

    Gateway to the Underworld, Choi Hung Station, Wong Tai Sin District; Ghost audience at Sau Mau Ping Theater, Kwun Tong District; Empty haunted mall, Tsuen Wan District;

    Nam Amitabha Buddha, Tuen Mun District; Female ghost in red, Yuen Long District primary school; The bride committed suicide, Northern District;

    Devil’s Ghost Bridge, Tai Po District; Hiker went missing in the spiritually restricted area, of Sai Kung; The girl with braided hair, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Sha Tin District;

    Sealed ghost unit in a housing estate, Kwai Tsing District; Charcoal-burning resort in Bela Vista, Outlying Islands.
