Led by calligraphy and ink art master Dr. Chui Pui-chee, professional actors and performers, participants of all ages explore calligraphy and ink wash painting through songs, musical rhythm, physical movement, Arts Tech installations, and hands-on writing — experiencing how millennia of Chinese cultural wisdom speaks to contemporary life.

Designed to suit both active and calm temperaments, the programme engages children of every personality. Energetic ones can channel the dynamism of calligraphy and ink into body language and movement through physical expression, rhythm, and spatial exploration; quieter children can connect with the subtlety of brushwork through gentle movement and breathing. Mindfulness elements are incorporated to guide children to focus on the present, nurturing concentration, emotional awareness, and aesthetic sensibility.

This is not a calligraphy class — it is a creative technology adventure bridging tradition and the future. Exploring lines and ink, Children come to command their bodies and technology in the creative process, building confidence and finding their own rhythm. Parents are welcome to join and rediscover the joy of brush and ink.

Every participant receives an exclusive “Play to Learn” kit, containing the four treasures of the study plus a comic book illustrated by renowned cartoonist Lai Tat-wing. A bilingual online learning platform supports continued exploration. Schools and social welfare organisations can also enjoy a complimentary theatre shuttle service, particularly suitable for class activities.

School Groups, HKCSS (Hong Kong Council of Social Service) Member Agencies and Service Users: Please fill out the registration form and email it to zuni@zuni.org.hk to apply. Tickets are free of charge, with a $10 handling fee per ticket;

Public registration is limited to a maximum of 4 adult tickets and 4 child tickets per person;

Quotas are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

– The programme runs approximately 110 minutes with no intermission.

– Suitable for audiences aged 3 and above.

– There is no fixed seating; participants will move around the venue as directed by arts guides. Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear and participate at your own discretion.

– All participants — especially the elderly and pregnant women — should take extra care when moving around the venue or interacting with installations.

– Wheelchair users are welcome, but must notify Zuni in advance so that arrangements can be made.

– Latecomers and early leavers must follow staff instructions and may only enter or exit at appropriate moments.

– No food or drink, flash photography, tripods, or selfie sticks are permitted inside the venue, so as not to disturb other participants.

– Please do not bring large luggage or items that may inconvenience others; staff reserve the right to refuse entry.

– If a performance is cancelled due to adverse weather, booking fees will not be refunded.

The Jockey Club Learning Chinese Culture through Arts Tech Theatre Programme 2.0 has been running since July 2023, promoting Chinese culture through Arts Tech, music, performance, and interactive installations. Building on its first phase, Project 2.0 operates under the vision of “Arts Tech Renaissance · Innovation Through Tradition,” focusing on Chinese calligraphy and ink wash painting, blending contemporary technology with traditional aesthetics to create new cultural experiences.
