In this DJ set, one will experience the remixes of music that have been used in theater performance space; the use of sound by sustained notes, repeated loops generating the textural layering of soundscape, that aims to create different perspectives of architectural space, and to create new experiences and understandings. The sound is not for dancing or active listening. The sound induces calmness and a space to think. The sound becomes part of the environment.
Through collaborating with Zuni Icosahedron in their various formats of and approaches to multi-media theater performance in the last two decades, NERVE’s sensitivity to SPACE and TIME has been defined and refined. Making references of Zuni’s soundtracks to pay tribute to the magnificent space and history of this world largest heritage building, the spatial concept goes beyond imagery space.

Steve Hui, aka NERVE, born in Hong Kong, is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice mines the boundaries among contemporary music, sound art, DJ-ing, multi-media theatre and underground subcultures. A longtime collaborator of Zuni Icosahedron (Hong Kong), a fellow of Asian Cultural Council in New York and a lecturer of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, NERVE has been performing and DJ-ing at CTM (Berlin), LUFF (Lausanne), Sónar (Hong Kong), as well as numerous DIY raves. He is the founder and artistic director of the experimental music group Decade Ensemble.
