Xu Sijia, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Kunqu Opera Theatre, is an accomplished younger-generation Kunqu performer specialising in zhengdan roles while also trained in guimendan roles. Her teachers have included Hu Jinfang, Liang Guyin and Gong Yinlei. She is noted for her performances in Zhu Maichen Divorces His Wife, The Broken Bridge from The Legend of the White Snake, Lament in Prison and The Petition from The Horse Trader, and also played a major role in 1699: The Peach Blossom Fan. Her performances have earned her numerous honours, including awards at the National Young Kunqu Performers Showcase and the National Red Plum Prize.
