Wallace Chang is a registered architect in Hong Kong and China, an associate professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong, director of the Urban Place Research Unit and visiting scholar at the Harvard-Yenching Institute at Harvard University. He is both an architectural practitioner and an urban design theorist whose primary interest lies in cultural conservation and community participation and whose award-winning designs range from urban washrooms to university academic buildings. He is also a social activist who seeks to promote civil awareness of the urban environment, community conservation and sustainable planning. Recent research includes his work on “Habitat City and Bamboo Theatre” with accompanying exhibition in 2011.
