Nick Yu Rong-jun

One of China’s most-prolific playwright, national first-class playwright, Doctor of Arts, the Vice President of SMG Performing Arts Group (SMG Live), Artistic Director of the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, the chief director of ACT Shanghai International Theatre Festival, the director of Shanghai International Comedy Festival, an ‘Outstanding Expert’ named by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Vice President of Shanghai Dramatists’ Association

Since 2000, he has created about 80 plays, musicals, operas, musicals, operas, xiqu (Chinese operas), dance theatre, and physical theatre produced in China and overseas. His writing has won him numerous national and international awards, including The Caoyu Script Award.

His works have been translated, published and staged in multiple languages, including Chinese, Japanese, English, Turkish, Spanish, Romanian, Italian, Korean, among others.
