Traditional Cambodian Dance and Japan Contemporary Dance Theatre Cross-Cultural Workshop

The Belt-Road performing arts master classes advocate dialogue and interaction amongst from Yogyakarta, Phnom Penh, Shanghai and Tokyo with the public. The workshops feature art forms from contemporary dance, traditional/ contemporary Javanese dance, traditional/ contemporary Cambodian dance and Kunqu.

  • Didik Nini Thowok – A classical Javanese dancer from Yogyakarta pioneering in Asian cross-gender performing arts
  • Shen Yili – A cross-disciplinary Kunqu artist from Shanghai who is a National Class One Performer and receiver of the Plum Blossom Award for Chinese Theatre
  • Makoto Matsushima – A Japan contemporary dancer cum choreographer, theatre director and performer
  • Nget Rady – A contemporary dancer from Phnom Penh specializing in traditional Cambodian male masked dance, particularly that of the monkey role
  • Jason Kong – A young Cantonese opera performing artist from Hong Kong
  • Nattapon Wannaun – A traditional Thai dance youth artist from Hat Yai, Thailand
  • Amin Farid – A traditional Malaysian dance youth artist from Singapore
  • Sabrina Sng – A Singapore contemporary dance youth artist
